Educational wikis for your classroom

While researching the use of wikis for the classroom I ran across this online space for students of Westwood Schools to learn and collaborate. Managed by teacher and blogger Vicki Davis. Watch a video of how her class works.

Her project has "been in the news" since she started it back in 2005. The public can view the information but only students can participate.

Go ahead and click around the site to see all the possibilities.
It's free for educational users. You have to request the upgrade for the free, no ad wiki for education. Watch the video on this page called Creating Educational Wikis. It tells how to upgrade for a free site.

Here is some information about using wikis in K-12 classrooms.

should schools be wired with video cameras?

I ran across a story about a father that wired his son to document what teachers did at school. This situation is so sad. This is a good video to watch so you can be aware of situations like this. Here is the Facebook Page.

The father was interviewed and has vowed to help schools make changes and get some teachers removed. Here's the interview
And a video response from an older boy with autism who talks about this and asks do we need to have cameras in the classroom to monitor schools?
What do you think?

Welcome!

I look forward to seeing and reading what you have to share with the class.
